Beauty Necessities: White Eyeliner

One thing every beauty addict should have in her makeup case is a white eyeliner pencil.

This bad boy is something I recently discovered and now am utterly at a loss to how I ever did without.

White eyeliner pencils are very versatile and have many convenient uses including:

  • brightening tired eyes
  • making small eyes look bigger
  • Making lips look plumper
  • acting as an eyeshadow primer in a fix
  • being very creative with!

After an all-nighter, white eyeliner can be your best friend.

Applying the liner along the lower waterline (the inner rim between your eyeball and your eyelashes)  and just outside the tear ducts will instantly brighten and widen your eyes, creating a youthful and refreshed look.

Just make sure the liner is very soft and that there aren't any pieces of wood near the tip at all.

Another trick for using white eyeliner is to apply it just along the cupid's bow of the lips.  This is the little dip that makes your top lip look like an 'M'.  This creates the illusion of light hitting the top of your lip, making it look bigger and fuller.

The white eyeliner can also be used as a shadow primer if you run out of your normal primer and don't have the time or dough to run out and get another.  Just mark up your lid and smudge out gently with your ring finger by tapping.  This will help give the shadow a little something extra to grab onto and will really showcase the pigments because it gives it an even base.  This trick is especially useful for bright, fun looks!

This particular liner is great for experimentation, as well.  Create a beautiful ice-queen look for Winter, or maybe add an interesting detail to a warm, colorful look.  If you like colorful liners, rim your eyes in white, then pull a pigment or shadow over the line.  Follow up with a clean brush to fade the color out; you'll have a subtle, fun liner look.

If you don't feel confident lining your eyes in white, or if you try white eyeliner and feel it's too bright/harsh/different on your eyes, you can always pick up a beige or light pink liner.  While these may be harder to find, some people find that they look more natural.  Personally, I'm satisfied with the results of the white, but I might pick up a more "natural" color one of these days to try out.

    Until next time,

Stay beautiful and have a great day!

    XOXO
